- Climate change mitigation and adaption is a challenging task faced by almost all countries, especially countries in Southeast Asian region given its vulnerability to climate change impacts and natural disasters. Given the seriousness and trans-national of climate change impact, climate change governance is placed at the top of the priority list of the ASEAN Economic Community’s agenda as it is essential to the political, social and economic development of ASEAN as a single market. This papers aims to (i) discuss the current policy and administrative frameworks of climate change mitigation and adaptation in ASEAN member countries, and (ii) investigate the challenges faced by ASEAN member countries regarding climate change mitigation and adaptation. Some lessons can be drawn from this study with regard to how climate change can be better managed at both regional and national levels.
